Journal of Ceramic Science and Technology

The Journal of Ceramic Science and Technology publishes original scientific articles on all topics of ceramic science and technology from all ceramic branches. The focus is on the scientific exploration of  the relationships between processing, microstructure and properties of sintered ceramic materials as well as on new processing routes for innovative ceramic materials. The papers may have either theoretical or experimental background. A high quality of publications will be guaranteed by a thorough double blind peer review process.

The Journal is published by Göller Verlag GmbH on behalf of the Deutsche Keramische Gesellschaft (DKG). Edited by Yu-Ping Zeng, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.

Special Issue
6th International Congress on Ceramics (ICC6)

Guest Editor

Preface

Dear Readers,

on behave of my co-chairs and the organizing committee I am very pleased to present a special issue of JCST summarizing highlights from the 6th International Congress on Ceramics (ICC6) which took place in Dresden in August 2016. The International Congress on Ceramics (ICC) is hosted every two years by the International Ceramic Federation (ICF) in cooperation with the ICF member societies. The congress serves as a platform to enable an exchange of information on ideas and visions of the future for ceramics and inorganic materials. In Dresden the ICC6 was organized by the German Ceramic Society (DKG e.V.) along with the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) endorsed by the American Ceramic Society (ACerS). The roughly 700 participants of ICC6 came from 46 different countries.

Themed “From laboratory to fabrication”, the ICC6 especially focused on stimulating an international technology transfer from research to industrial application. The ICC6 featured 16 symposia spanning the entire scope of current advanced ceramics research and development. Special focus laid on topics, such as: additive manufacturing, ceramics for energy and environmental technology, porous ceramics and membranes, ceramic matrix composites, and bioceramics for medical applications.
In this issue of JCST you find a well selected range of papers from this high caliber event and we hope that you enjoy reading it.

Yours,

Alexander Michaelis
Fraunhofer IKTS
