Shengyuan Xu, Shengyuan Xu, Shibo Guo, Weiyou Yang, Feng Hu
Pages 11-20 · DOI: 10.4416/JCST2024-00006
Nanoscale(D50 = 83 nm), microscale(D50 = 32 μm), and millimeter-scale(D50 = 0.3 mm) pure phase β-SiC powders were synthesized through a two-step self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) method in an argon atmosphere, utilizing spherical-like graphite as the source materials with varied particle sizes. Accordingly, these spherical SiC powders were efficiently fabricated on a large scale by coating carbon spheres with molten silicon. It is found that the SiC powders are predominantly influenced by the characteristics of the carbon source employed, leading to their controllabe growth in …
Advancements in the Application of Far-Infrared Ceramics for Sports Injury Rehabilitation
H. Zhang
Pages 1-10 · DOI: 10.4416/JCST2024-00024
This review examines the emerging applications of far-infrared (FIR)-emitting ceramic materials in sports injury rehabilitation. FIR ceramics, engineered to efficiently absorb and emit radiation in the 3 – 1 000 μm wavelength range, have shown promise in accelerating recovery processes and enhancing athletic performance. The unique properties of these materials allow for deep tissue penetration, potentially offering more profound therapeutic effects compared to conventional heat therapies. This paper explores the composition and mechanisms of FIR-emitting ceramics, including their thermal and …
Surface Roughness and Shear Bond Strength of Y-TZP Treated via Tri-Biochemical Silica Coating, Femtosecond Laser, and Nano-Hydroxyapatite: An SEM assessment

Pages 45-50 · DOI: 10.4416/JCST2024-00029
AIMS: Efficacy of the recent surface pretreating techniques Tribochemical silica coating (TBC), Femtosecond laser (FS), and Nano-hydroxyapatite (HA) coating in influencing the surface roughness (Ra) and shear bond strength (SBS) of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (Y-TZP) bonded to resin luting cement. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty-four Y-TZP zirconia discs were prepared followed by grouping based on the conditioning agent (n= 16) Group 1 (APA) (Control), Group 2 (TBC), Group 3 (FS laser), and Group 4 (Nano-HA coating). Surface roughness evaluation was performed on five discs …
In this work, (Na0.5Bi0.5)WO4 ceramic was prepared with the modified solid-state reaction method. The ceramic samples were calcined at 550 °C and then sintered at 680 °C for 4 h. After the ceramic samples had been thermally etched, their dense microstructure and straight grain boundary were observed by means of scanning electron microscopy, and a relative density of 95.1 % determined. The dielectric property of the (Na0.5Bi0.5)WO4 ceramic in this work was measured with a Q × f value of 28 000 GHz, a relative permittivity of 27.5 and a temperature coefficient of - 15 ppm/K. Compared with the me …

The impact of ceramic surface conditioners and resin cement with different viscosities on the surface roughness (Ra) and strength of the bond of dentin to lithium disilicate ceramics (LDC) at baseline and after aging has been investigated. Dentin and LDC discs were prepared. The discs were conditioned. Group 1: HFA+S, Group 2: SECP and Group 3: Er, Cr: YSGG. Ra and topographic analysis of conditioned discs was performed. Based on high and low viscosities, conditioned discs were bonded with dentin. Bonded samples with low and high viscosity underwent aging while others were not aged. SBS testin …

The influence of a Ho:YAG laser and nano-hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating on the surface roughness (Ra) and shear bond strength (SBS) of lithium disilicate ceramics (LDC) bonded to dentin with resin cement of varying viscosity following exposure to thermal aging has been studied. One hundred and fifty-three LDC discs were prepared and randomly allocated into three groups, based on their surface pretreatment. Group 1: 10 % HFA + S, Group 2: Ho:YAG laser, and Group 3: Nano-HAp coating. Ra was measured using a profilometer and the surface topography was assessed by means of scanning electron microsco …
